- Cash served in Germany during the Cold War, where he intercepted Soviet radio signals. Ironically, he also wrote his first song during his military service.
- “Folsom Prison Blues” was inspired by prison life long before he was ever jailed, proving his deep connection to the incarcerated and forgotten.
- Died on 12 September 2003 in Tennessee, US.
- Awarded the Award Of Merit by American Music Award (AMA) in 1977
- Awarded the Grammy Legend Award by National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Grammy) in 1991
- Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1992
